July 17, 2004 Hello, I have been back in Haiti for about 10 days now and it has been extremely busy. We just put on another Filter Technician Training Course and trained 7 more Technicians from Catholic Relief Services and a couple of smaller NGO's. Chris Rolling has been doing an excellent job of managing the affairs of the mission and developing relationships. He has my complete confidence and I know when I am gone he will continue to develop and expand the mission with integrity and vision. This will be my last trip to Haiti for some time as I have accepted an offer for employment. The position is the International Advisor for Africa with The Center For Affordable Water And Sanitation Technology(CAWST) in Calgary. I will begin this position on September 1st. This is indeed a new page in our lives and I am looking forward to the challenges that this position will bring. I also feel a lot of sadness around giving up my day to day work with Clean Water For Haiti, but I know this is God's will for us and I trust that completely. Haiti has been a tremendous blessing to me. Haiti, it's people, and the adventures I have experienced have forever changed me. God has blessed me beyond anything I could have imagined through this experience and I give all the Glory and Honor to Him. With this being said I do not plan to end my involvement with Clean Water For Haiti in fact my role will just be different. As we are making application for Charitable Status in Canada we have Formed a Board Of Directors. I have been elected Chairman of the Board and as such will still be working on a voluntary basis for the organization. I hope that I will be able to be as useful to the project working in this capacity from Canada as I was when I worked here in Haiti. I want to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of you who have continued to show your support for this project. Se pou gras ak lanmou Bondye kontinye touche nanm ou e kenbe ou an sekirite! (May Gods' Grace and Love continue to touch Your Souls and keep You Safe!) Tal |
